This year our annual Thanksgiving community meal was held on November 12, 2023 at the Linden Community Center. We are always excited this time of year to together and share a meal, hold a conversation and just time with one another.
This year we partnered with The P.E.E.R. Center to bring people who might not otherwise have a place to celebrateThanksgiving to our event. From east and west P.E.E.R. Center locations, JDT Transport Group transported community members. Arizona Counseling & Consultation Services as well as Faith Mission shelter had guests in attendance, we also welcomed guests from Lighthouse Behavioral Health.
Thanks to the special efforts of the S.O.A.R. Foundation's President, Sarah Kay, we purchased cooked turkeys from Cameron Mitchell Premier Events. The rest of the meal was catered by B & K Smokehouse, consisted of ham, macaroni and cheese, green beans, sweet potatoes and cornbread dressing and gravy, cranberry sauce and various pies for dessert.
We were also able to provide those who attended a take home turkey sandwich lunch.
The simultaneous clothing giveaway this year consisted of brand new shoes, blankets, toiletries and gently used clothing. Several gift cards were raffled off . As always we are grateful to everyone who helped contribute to make this event a success.
We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the community and look forward to seeing everyone at our next event!
